Join us for an exciting, fun, and informative clinic with veteran Major League Umpire Jim Evans!
Our clinic will be held at the Myrtle Beach Athletic Complex, just minutes from the beach!
All of Crown Reef’s 514 guest rooms and suites are located on the oceanfront with a private balcony. It is assured that each room offers a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean and the ability to observe the astounding Carolina sunrise over the horizon. Each unit is furnished and accessorized with the conveniences of home.

2010 Myrtle Beach Classic

Dates:
- Start: December 7, 2010
- Registration and Hotel Check-In (if applicable): Begins 8 a.m. December 7.
- Orientation: 6:00 p.m. December 7.
- End (Hotel Check-Out): December 12.
- Graduation Dinner: 5:00 p.m. December 11.

Cost:
- Tuition - $395. A $150 non-refundable deposit required with enrollment. (For groups 5 or more, please email us for a group rate.)

Hotel:
- Shared Room: $165 Total (Not Per Night, tax included)
- Private Room: $330 Total (Not Per Night, tax included)
The Academy has negotiated these room rates:
(Price valid only to reservations made with the Academy office. If you need a room before or after the start/end of the Classic, please call or email us to secure our special rate. Do NOT call the hotel, they will not honor the rate unless we reserve it.)
Cost includes 2 Academy T-shirts, an embroidered combo cap, name tag, Certificate of Completion and Graduation Dinner. For those staying at the Crown Reef Resort, transportation to and from the training facility will be provided if needed. Hotel check-in is on December 7th at the Academy Office located in the designated hotel room. The dinner will be held on the 11th after fieldwork. Hotel check-out is the 12th. Please plan your home return travel for the 12th.

Training:
- Classroom and field training will be conducted at the Myrtle Beach Sports Complex.
- The Academy Office will be located in a room at the Crown Reef Resort.

Enrollment Deadline:
- Online enrollment must be completed no later than October 15 to guarantee a position in the class. All enrollments received after October 15 will be reviewed and subject to availability. Call our office for availability (303) 290-7411.
- To expedite enrollments after October 15 , it is recommended that you call the Academy Office and enroll by phone using a valid credit card. Information provided will be copied to an enrollment form by the Academy staff. Office hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Time Zone, Monday thru Friday. (303) 290-7411

Class Schedules
Start:
Tuesday night orientation 6:00p.m. - 9:00p.m.
Daily - Classroom session from 8:30a.m. - 12:00p.m.
Field/Cagework at Myrtle Beach Sports Complex from 1:00p.m. - 5:00p.m.
A course graduation dinner will be held on the 11th after classroom session from 1p.m - 5p.m.

- Survey of Official Rules
- Overthrows/Awarding Bases

- Balks
- Plate Stances/Mechanics
- Developing a Strike Zone
Classroom instruction includes a comprehensive survey of the rule book and proper umpiring procedures. In addition, you will participate in open discussions, rap sessions, and class competition. All our training is designed to take your amateur umpiring to a new level.
Personal plate stances are evaluated and recommendations made which will improve your calling of balls and strikes. Jim and his instructors will demonstrate the three most popular stances used in professional baseball and help you understand the advantages and disadvantages of each. You will work with individual instructors, videotape, and pitching machines to accelerate your learning.
Instructors:
Jim Evans is your chief instructor, working with you each day in the classroom and on-the-field. His assistants are all honor graduates of the Academy, current professional umpires, and instructors at the professional course. Each one is selected for his umpiring, instructional, and communication skills.
